This study investigates the current situation in higher education which is implemented last decade by wide technology usage. It is shown that the technology is not a panacea for teaching/learning process and it often leads to the process degradation rather than to its improvement. This research was designed using case study methodology and data was collected from open resources available on Internet and from author’s own experience based on many years work as observer and evaluator. Among factors affecting learning process negatively, the most important are the low academic culture and the reduced local teaching standards of the institution, the intuitive communication topology and the low professionalism of educational, auxiliary (technical support) and bureaucratic staff. The examples of destructive impact of these factors on teaching/learning process are analyzed in the frame that does not request for additional investments which are often appeared to be the most common “business” approach for educational problem resolution. This alternative approach is based on comparison of two opposite tendencies in contemporary education: its in many aspects disputable technological improvement and its degradation caused by inadequate technology usage. One of the ways to overcome these negative tendencies is the establishment of continuous process of reviewing of Internet web sites contents and courses offered and publication of these reviews in corresponding educational academic journals.
