I shall delineate, examine some strengths and weaknesses, and propose my own ‘eclectic paradigm’ or ‘integration philosophy’ model, as regards some major competing modern and contemporary approaches to doing science, social science, the humanities, and the arts. In fact, mainstream positivism will be the chief focus of my analytic diagnosis, albeit a discussion of some competing views, like phenomenology and critical theory, will be in order.
