A Consumer Knowledge and Behaviors towards Banking Home Loans

After 2000 Turkey has experienced consistent growth in housing, a reliable investment by consumers. This research examined important factors that affect the housing demand of consumers. However, the reason that consumers do not have enough finances leads them to get loan to buy houses. When all these developments are taken into consideration, it becomes more important to determine the attitude, behaviour, and knowledge level of consumers toward home loans. These studies aimed determine the attitude, behaviour and knowledge level of consumers toward housing loans. Participations of this study consist of consumers who were married getting loan or thinking about getting loan in 2012 and dwelling in Karabuk cities in Turkey. The sample size are determined using simple random sampling method (N=414). Results stated that 84.1 % of the consumers take get housing loans. Among the consumers who get use housing credit (n=359) payback period average is found 8.0±(2.4) years. 51.7% of the participation has determined that housing loans decision making are given with their family members. According to the results of the study, it was found that the factors that affect the use of home loans average were high degree (4.5±0.5). This results shows that the factors that affect the use of home loans have an important role. %79.5 of the consumers stated that they go to banks to get information about housing loans while %46.1 of them use the Internet to be informed. Based on these findings some recommendations are made. This paper may be beneficial to Consumers, policymakers and consumer educators in their study of strategies for improving the roles of consumers in protection the consumer and sustainable their rights.
